Thuya Burl Earrings, 14KT Gold-Filled Hooks
Thuya burl grows only in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. A confiner type cedar tree, this burl forms underground from the root and is one of the more rare types of burls. It’s name means “sacrifice” in Greek and is considered a biblical wood because of its mention in the Book of Revelation and popularity during the reign of King David. It has a distinctly sweet cypress-like aroma; oil from this tree is still used in religious ceremonies as well as for medicinal applications. The beauty of this wood is it's low environmental impact in how its harvested; cut by hand and loaded onto the backs of donkeys and led out of the mountains. It is a classic, minimalistic favorite at SMStudios.
