Faden Quartz Crystal
Faden Quartz is a peculiar and striking type of quartz crystal that is uncommonly seen. It’s origins are that of Pakistan, Europe and Brazil, and but it’s name is of German descent meaning “thread”, which can be seen running through these specimens. Faden quartz occurs in a fissure containing a quartz deposit and as the fissure grows apart, the quartz is broken or fractured but heals itself with more deposit of quartz from it’s ruptured self, bridging new openings. This continuous fracturing and healing leaves a scar of liquid and gas as the “thread” inclusion seen visibly in established specimens. Because of its physical origins, faden quartz holds the strong symbolic reputation of self-healing and connection, bridging and healing relationships where distance has fallen, and even strengthening the “silver-cord” from the astral self to the physical self. It’s tabular aesthetic and geological origins make these quartz crystals a distinguishing singularity in the world of minerals.
